#341 - Reformed blogger, I am.

So before I start on the actual contents of my post, I'd just like to say that I think me starting up my blog again was actually not a bad idea. In fact, it was a [dare I say it?] good idea! Even Ally and my sister have started blogging again! Hahaha. Although, I'm not sure how long THAT is going to last ;)

Anyhoo.

Today my dad just came back from Vietnam and he just dropped these two TIME magazines in my lap. [May & November issues!] So at first I'm like, "Wha-aat?" but then I actually opened them and started flipping through and they really aren't that bad. I know, I know... I of all people [claiming to be the bookworm that I am] should not judge a book, [or in this case, magazine] by it's cover. So the magazine I wanted to share with you all is the May issue titled,

"The 100 most influential people in the world"

[p.s I actually typed out the title the same way it's printed on the cover except the font. lol.]

About the cover, I actually find it quite humourous that among the 3 people on it, Lady Gaga is one of them. What amuses me further is that she is standing next to a smart looking Bill Clinton. Talk about contrast. If you don't understand what I mean, look below. [yes, Lady Gaga is wearing what I'm assuming to be that flamethrower bra thing she wore in her 'Bad Romance' music video. I'm not sure though, so don't take my word for it] Yes, by the way, that is Didier Drogba on the left.

Now before you jump to conclusions, I don't intend to bore you, dear reader, by listing out each and every person in this magazine. No siree, I have a life. That's why I blog. Ha. Ha. Only joking. I just mean to share a some of my views on a few of the people in this magazine.

Side note: I keep mistyping the word 'book' in place of magazine. It's bugging me.

Unfortunately, the magazine [ha! I forced myself to think before I typed there.] does not list the people in order from 1 to 100. Instead, the categorise them into Leaders, Artists, Thinkers and Heroes. Also, I'm only going to list a few of them and mainly from the Artists category, just because I feel like it. :) Not that the people [mainly politicians, I think] in the 'Leaders' category don't intrigue me. I'm just not very political.

Anyhoo, [cue drumroll] The Artists category, and who else should it be but the aforementioned Lady Gaga on the very first page of this category. So let's just say that in each category, the people are sorted in order which would make Lady Gaga #1. [whistles] No surprise there though, she's definitely made an impression on us all, that I'm sure of.

We've got Oprah Winfrey at #4! Duh.

Holy cow. Guess who's at #6?

Robert Pattinson.

[blinks several times]

A-say-a-what?

His little description at the side says, "Sexiest (bookish) actor alive" Unfortunately, I beg to differ. Oh how I beg to differ.

Moving on~ We've got Mr. Ashton Kutcher at #7! Can I get a hollah! Haha, I joke.

And at #8 we have Suzanne Collins!!! A little background info for those who don't know. Ms Collins is the brilliant and successful author of the awesome Hunger Games Trilogy. Oh yes, she is definitely supposed to be on this list.

#9 is Taylor Swift ya'll. And she even got 1 3/4 of the page spread to herself.

On the other 1/4 of the page spread, we have none other than NEIL PATRICK HARRIS AT #10!!! [looks in Amanda Khoo's direction] Gay he may be, he is Legen- wait for it -dary!

Woah, #13 is Lea Michele? Interesting... veeery interesting...

Oh yes, Mr. Simon Cowell is #15 . I like the first sentence of his little article here. "In the nine seasons he's spent as an acerbic, V-neck-T-shirt-wearing judge on American Idol..." I'm not typing the rest of the sentence because I only find the first part funny.

Now at #17 is an artist I've never heard of, mainly because he keeps his identity a secret which I find immensely cool, is a dude named Banksy. Google him if you like because the only thing his little article says is that he's known for his graffiti art, is an amazing artist and designed Obama's 2008 Hope poster. Nice.

#19 is Sandra Bullock. Really? Well I s'pose her movie, The Blind Side, was pretty darn good, among other things. [yea I haven't seen it yet but the trailer's look good!]

#21 is Elton John, or should I say, SIR Elton John. I would actually be surprised if he wasn't in this list.

Ooh ooh, Marc Jacobs is #23! :D Granted, I'm too young to own anything labelled Marc Jacobs but this guys designs can really be gorgeous.

Nice, James Cameron at #26. He directed Avatar for those of you who don't know. Haha, the description of his claims "He's an overachieving mutant"

And we have come to the end of our Artist category. Hm. Next is the Thinkers category. I'm just going to browse a bit and pick out the ones that interest me... [browses]

Oh, he are these two guys, Douglas Schwartzentruber [mouthful] and Larry Kwak. These two men are working towards a common goal. They are working towards a vaccine of cancer which is in my opinion, something commendable beyond belief.

Would the list be complete without the very awesome, Steve Jobs ? Most certainly not. Mr. Jobs is, as his description states, "The mind behind Apple's machines" And thank God for him and his amazing Apple creations.

In the Heroes category, we have Bill Clinton in the double page spread. [well duh]

Hold up. [browses some more]

Woah, Ben Stiller is #4. Haha. Not that I think lowly of him in any way, it's just a little surprise. Also, his description says, "A deeply comic, deeply kind pain in the ass" which may be a contributing factor to my amusement.

Ooh, Drogba, Serena Williams and Jet Li are here as well but it's kinda late and I really want to hit the hay.

Hm. Good book magazine this one. Oh, just a little FYI the other magazine [November issue!] is called,

"The 50 Best Inventions of 2010"

Looks quite cool, but I'l probably tackle that one [highly unlikely] another day.
